Biografia: Ultimogenito della famiglia Shibata, nasce in un ambiente sereno quanto competitivo, mostrandosi non da meno rispetto alla sorella Megumi. Nonostante un alto QI, simile a quello di Megumi, Kenta preferisce dedicarsi agli sport piuttosto che allo studio, giudicando la vita da manager di Megumi "troppo noiosa" per lui, per quanto la rispetti. Impara a combattere molto precocemente, dimostrando grandi doti atletiche nonostante la giovane età ed ottenendo rispetto e notorietà in tutto il Giappone, sotto la supervisione della famiglia che lo spinge verso la strada delle arti marziali e del Puroresu. Nonostante i dieci anni di differenza, ha un rapporto molto intimo con Megumi, da lui sempre vista come punto di riferimento ma mai con invidia, rapporto strettosi ulteriormente partecipando agli show asiatici organizzati da Megumi stessa, dove studia le tecniche di combattimento utilizzate in asia. Segue il wrestling americano ma lo ritiene "troppo sicuro" per il suo stile, ma nonostante ciò impara l'inglese, si allena per migliorare il proprio fisico ed le sue abilità in combattimento, debuttando negli Stati Uniti a 19 anni e riuscendo in breve tempo a conquistare rispetto e cinture.
Kenta è giudicato incredibilmente promettente per i risultati che è riuscito a raggiungere in altri lidi. Per un breve periodo, lotta in TWC sotto lo pseudonimo di Kaze, indossando una maschera, come a voler segnare un punto di separazione tra la sua carriera precedente e quella attuale, e preferiva non essere "riconosciuto" con il suo nome. Nonostante la giovanissima età, è considerato un "genio" del ring, capace di sfruttarlo nella sua interezza e di studiare l'avversario in tempi relativamente brevi, cercando lacune e punti deboli.
All-Arounder, capace di lottare a terra come per aria, il suo stile di lotta viene chiamato "Kamikaze", proprio perchè si basa sulla filosofia del "High Risk, High Reward", puntado su mosse ad alto coefficiente di rischio ma che portano a un grande vantaggio. Nonostante non sia altissimo, ha comunque una bella stazza che gli consente di eseguire sia mosse di potenza, anche se discretamente rare, che da high-flyer, il suo stile convenzionale preferito.
Nonostante sia giovanissimo, è molto maturo e serio nel parlare, quasi in contrapposizione al suo stile di lotta, dove invece spesso si presta a provocare gli avversari e evidenziare le loro falle, quasi a voler costantemente alzare il livello della lotta per poter migliorare a sua volta. Il suo obbiettivo principale è proprio questo, migliorare e migliorare, con una forte autocritica verso se stesso che lo porta ad allenarsi sempre di più, e cercare avversari più tosti, tenaci, scaltri.
